Jamu juice - an anti-inflammatory turmeric and ginger health tonic. Simple and quick vegan healthy juice.

    jamu

    What is jamu?

Jamu or jamu juice is a recipe from Bali and it´s an anti-inflammatory health tonic made from fresh turmeric root, ginger root, lemon juice, and originally honey. However, to make this juice vegan, use agave syrup instead.

It´s simple to make and perfect for the flu season to boost immunity, as this juice contains anti-inflammatory roots ginger and turmeric.

Jamu simply means medicine in Balinese, and there is many different spin on the recipe. There is different jamu for different ailments, made of plants, herbs, and nuts.

I don't think this is a cure-all solution, but a little daily (if consumed daily) boost to your immune system. A shot or a small glass of jamu juice can have a beneficial effect on your body.

    The health benefits of turmeric

Similar to the ginger root, turmeric is a root also. It has been used in India for many years as a spice and medicinal herb. Turmeric contains curcumin. Curcumin has powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Also, it's a strong antioxidant.

Antioxidants help protect the body against damage caused by free radicals.

Besides being a powerful antioxidant, turmeric is also thought to have digestive benefits, cholesterol-lowering, and anti-carcinogenic properties.

    The health benefits of ginger

Ginger root is a spicy, peppery root. Undoubtedly, it has a range of health benefits. Some of the health benefits include improving digestion, blood sugar levels, reducing nausea. It can also positively affect cholesterol levels.

Ginger root can also have an anti-inflammatory effect and help reduce inflammation.
