Healthy golden (turmeric) milk smoothie

 

Now that I´m getting more…let’s say mature, I´m not getting invited to parties as often as I used to in my early twenties. (That is fine. Nowadays, I appreciate much more a glass of wine or two with my besties).

When I do get invited tho, I get invited to two parties scheduled for the same day. Well, that is what happened last week anyway. What I needed to do was to plan my time somehow to be able to go to both of those parties. I managed to find a solution. I even bought a dress for this occasion. And I started to feel very excited about this.

Let me tell you more about this dress. I ‘m not a dress-wearing person, so this was kind of a big deal for me. This dress was something special. You know when you live your whole life thinking that you are not a dress-wearing type, and then you find a dress that looks and feels amazing? Then you open your eyes and start to revalue your life and all your beliefs. This dress was that kind of dress.

The day before the dress wearing day, I caught a cold.
I´m a vegan. How is this even possible? All I eat is veggies.
My weekend plans got replaced with something no one wants to go thru. When it happens, nothing is important anymore. The only thing you want is to get well again. I´m still mourning not beeing able to wear that dress tho.

After a big amount of ginger tea, golden (turmeric) milk and other DIY-get well-sorcery from my pantry, I came up with an idea. Instead of making another golden (turmeric) milk, I can make golden milk alike smoothie. It is still filled with healthy nutrients, so why not. This is how this smoothie came to life.

Now, I need to warn you. This smoothie is not for the weak. It is supposed to contribute to your recovery, and it sure can help you up on your feet faster but is not a cure-all remedy. If you are not that big of a fan of ginger or turmeric taste, start with little less and add more if you want to.

 

Healthy golden (turmeric) milk smoothie

Prep Time: 2 minutes

Cook Time: 3 minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 1

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 1/2 cup soy milk
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Top with berries if desired.
